Bihar has always been the center of politics and is always in news for the political dramas that take place in this state. One such incident happened and has left Mukesh Sahaniās (Leader of VIP) political future in crossroads.
VIP (Vikassheel Insaan Party) actually had 3 MLAs in Bihar assembly but in recent events that were followed by these MLAs dissociation from VIP and merger to BJP has left VIP with no MLA in state assembly.Ā It has also effected VIPās political future and party is seem to be in huge trouble.
Actually, three MLAs Raju Kumar Singh (Saheb Ganj), Misri Lal Yadav (Alinagar) and Swarna Singh (Gaura Bouram) ā met Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha on Wednesday evening and asked for their dissociation from VIP and merger to BJP.
This move has not only benefitted BJP as an individual party as it is now the largest individual party in Bihar assembly surpassing its political rival RJD which has 75 seats but has also raised questions over defection laws as this move has almost left VIP with little or no political future as next elections still have 3 years to come.Ā
What Gave Rise to this Defection and its EffectsĀ
VIP is the ally of NDA which came onboard before 2020 state elections actually left RJD-led alliance to join NDA. Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) leader and Biharās animal husbandry and fisheries minister Mukesh Sahani stated his interchange from the RJD-led grand alliance to the NDA camp beforehand of the 2020 Bihar Assembly polls was a āmistakeā.
The EBC Mallah chief had the major an excessive political yesterday after that merger. In the 2020 Bihar polls, the BJP had allocated eleven seats to the VIP from its NDA quota. The VIP contested from those seats andwon 4 seats.
The 3 VIP MLAs owed their allegiance to the BJP unofficially from the beginning. Sahani, who lost his own Assembly seat, was made Member of the Bihar Legislative Council (MLC) in order to make him the minister that was pre decided before alliance, however the saffron party had not given Sahani a full-time period MLC berth, his MLC tenure is to run out this July.
Now that his party isn’t probable to be a part of the NDA, he couldn’t get any other MLC tenure from the BJP and will now have to surrender the minister post soon. The inclusion of the 3 VIP MLAs to BJP will make saffron party the single largest party in assembly with 77 seats ā 2 greater than RJDās seventy-five seats.Ā
Ā The VIP MLAsā merger will not have any effect on Nitish Kumar-led JD(U)-BJP authorities in Bihar, because the NDAās tally will stand at 126 out of the 243-member House. However, this merger will give a psychological benefit to BJP over JD(U) that too when the relationship between two parties is in a very tender phase.
With BJP triumphing the latest Assembly elections without problems in 4 states, together with Uttar Pradesh has already bolstered its benefit over the JD(U). It has left the latter party,Ā to have exhausted all its alternatives. The only possibility remains to switchover to the RJD coalition, which is not going to happen most likely with Tejaswi Yadav, who’s taking RJD center level in state politics on his own.Ā Ā
But what gave rise to this situation?, one may think. VIP actually made BJP angry by using approximately fifty-two applicants withinside the UP polls and later using seven applicants in opposition to it in the approaching Bihar MLC polls for twenty-four seats. BJP hit back by fielding its candidate from the approaching Bochaha (Muzaffarpur) by poll necessitated after the dying of incumbent VIP MLA Musafir Paswan.
Another MLA MUkesh Sahani however,Ā signed up its presence withinside the politically important UP that has a widespread EBC Nishad/ Kevat (Mallah) population. In Bihar, Mallah is a distinguished EBC community, that’s prominent in Muzaffarpur, Madhubani and Darbhanga districts.Ā Ā
After former MP Captain Jaynarayan Nishad, Mukesh Sahani has emerged as the largest Mallah leader. In a rush to amplify his base, Sahani has suffered many political setbacks. He had fallen out with the RJD as he demanded he need to be projected as the Deputy CM face in the 2020 polls. Sahaniās choice to go back to the RJD-led coalition will continue to be open as Tejaswi has been looking to increase its base and look for a winning alliance combination.Ā
With all MLAs joining BJP it is very difficult time for Vikasheel Insaan Party and need to take few strong decisions so as to safeguard its political future. Though this defection has already made Biharās political scene dramatic and we need to look for what will be Sahaniās next step.
