Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his speech to BJP workers and leaders of the party on the occasion of the party’s foundation day to declare that dynastic parties were the “greatest enemies” of democracy and that the BJP, on the other hand, stood for nationalism rather than family loyalty.
PM Modi pointed out that the BJP’s founding anniversary falls at a time when the party is still in power in four states. He further noted that the BJP has become the first party in three decades to have 100 members in the Rajya Sabha. “On the 42nd anniversary of the BJP’s founding, we must also commemorate those who marched with the ‘Oil Lamp’ from the Jana Sangha era and afterwards with the ‘Lotus.’
During his speech, he also mentioned that “three-four generations sacrificed themselves to the cause of making the party magnificent.” People used to accept that no matter who was in power, nothing would be done for the country, according to the Prime Minister. “There was a sense of helplessness. Today, every person in the country enthusiastically proclaims that the country is rapidly changing and progressing.
This is the second time he has attacked dynastic politics in his speeches to party members this Parliament session. He expressed the same thing in his address to the BJP parliamentary party a few weeks ago, just after the results of five Assembly elections were announced.
“Dynastic parties are dedicated to furthering family power and have little regard for constitutional principles,” he stated. “They cover up each other’s corruption and wrongdoing, even if they are active in other States.” There are two types of politics going on right now: one based on love for family, and the other based on love for country.
Some political parties in various states work solely for the benefit of their respective families. They may be in different states, but dynasty binds them together.” “In previous decades, this has caused a great deal of harm to the country.” These parties never allowed the country’s youth to succeed and always misled them.
Today, we should be glad that the BJP is the only political party in the country that is raising awareness of this threat and is issuing warnings. In a reference to geopolitical developments in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he stated that India was acting in its own national interest when the globe was divided into two opposing poles.
PM Modi Took a Dig at Nepotism and Family Politics
Targeting political adversaries, he observed that when these national or state-based parties come to power, members of certain families dominate everything from local government to the legislature. Only the BJP has taken them on and turned it into an election issue.
They stifled the country’s young potential and deceived them, he claimed, without mentioning any specific parties. He pointed out that BJP governments had implemented welfare schemes without discrimination and worked to ensure that every beneficiary received them, whereas previous administrations had been driven by vote-bank politics, in which promises were made to some sections of the society while larger sections were ignored.
He emphasised that the BJP was successful in persuading people of the hazards of such a strategy. He noted that discrimination and corruption were “side effects” of vote-bank politics. As part of its aim to achieve saturation coverage of assistance programmes, the government machinery now worked to reach every targeted beneficiary.
He said that discrimination could not exist in such a system and that these measures were the most powerful tool for social justice. He stated that “Rajniti” (politics) and “Rashtra Niti” (plans for the benefit of the country) cannot be separated for the BJP.
He claimed that the ruling party’s foundation day was “very important” because of ongoing programmes to commemorate the country’s 75th anniversary of independence and the “rapidly changing” global order that has presented the country with new opportunities, and cited the BJP’s election success in retaining power in four states as another key marker, along with it becoming the first party in three decades to have 100 members in the Rajya Sabha.
Mr Modi stated that India was working in the best interests of the country. It was adamant about its well-being. It was widely regarded as a country that stood firm in its commitment to humanity. He went on to say that there was now a convergence of policies, objectives, decisiveness, and determination.
