Every Friday between 7-9 pm, for a total of 15 minutes, the show will be televised. Its second episode will air on October 14, 2022. The programme will be broadcast on a variety of platforms, including YouTube, News On Air’s app, and Twitter (@airnewsalerts).
Indian Election Commission?
The Indian Election Commission is an independent and constitutional authority. It was founded in 1950 and is in charge of holding free and fair elections for the federal and state governments. The Indian Constitution’s Article 324 grants ECI the authority to oversee, manage, and control elections for the President and Vice-President in addition to those for the State Legislature, Parliament, and local governments. Two election commissioners and one chief election commissioner work there.

All India Radio?
AIR is a division of Prasar Bharati and was founded in 1957 under the name Akashwani as well. The largest national public radio broadcaster in the entire world, not just in India, is AIR.
The partnership?
Because AIR has the broadest reach and covers the entire nation without favouring any region or language, the Election Commission of India and AIR are working together.
What does the Matadata Junction campaign aim to achieve?
Its goal is to educate the public on the election process, including how free and fair elections are held in a way that is transparent, open to all, inclusive, and free from outside influence.
This programme combines fun and information. Every episode is themed differently, with a focus on the uninformed nature of the public in general, the urban population in particular, and young people and first-time voters.
These episodes contain information on voter registration, the value of each voter having one vote, the model code of conduct, electronic voting machines, including information on how they operate, and the VVPAT machine and its significance. Quizzes, drama, storytelling, and expert interviews are all included. People can also express their doubts and questions during the show.
The Election Commission also launched SVEEP (Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation) prior to the Matadata Junction Program.
SVEEP?
The Election Commission of India launched this programme in 2009. The initiative attempts to raise people’s awareness of the value of voting rights and the significance of elections. Its goal was to encourage voter participation in an ethical and well-informed manner, much like the Matadata Campaign.
And the ECI launched The Matadata Junction Programme to further the goals of SVEEP and broaden its audience.
The ECI is the cornerstone of India’s democratic system, and in order for it to stand solidly, voters must take part in all ECI-related activities.
