Chandrayaan-3 is India's third lunar mission by ISRO

It Consists of a lander named "Vikram" and a rover named "Pragyan"

Chandrayaan-3 was launched on 14 July 2024

The lander and rover landed near the lunar south pole region on 23rd August 2024 at 18:02 IST

This made India the very first country to successfully land a spacecraft near the lunar south pole

And  only the fourth countyr in the world to achive the feat after USA, Russia and China

ISRO launched Chandrayaan-2 with orbiter, lander, rover via Mark-3 launch vehicle on July 22, 2019

But crashed due to trajectory deviation during landing attempt, missing intended target.

Chandrayaan-3 development began January 2020, aimed for 2021 launch

But got delayed by Covid-19 Pandemic

Former ISRO chairman K. Sivan estimated 615 Cr in 2019, 721 Cr in 2024
