J.R.D. Tata (1904-1993) was a Visionary industrialist, aviation pioneer, philanthropist; shaped Tata Group's growth.

1.  J.R.D. Tata was the first Indian to obtain a pilot's license in 1929.

2. At the age of 22, he joined the Tata group as an unpaid apprentice.

3.  J.R.D. Tata played a crucial role in establishing the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Mumbai.     

4. He donated funds for the establishment of the Tata Trusts in Sri Lanka and United Kingdom.

5. He received the first-ever civilian pilot license issued by the Aero Club of India.

6.  J.R.D. Tata had a flair for writing and authored a book titled "The Legendary Galleon," a historical fiction novel.

7.  J.R.D. Tata was fluent in several languages, including French, English, and Bengali.

8.  He had a deep love for nature and was an avid gardener.

9. He was also the first Indian to be awarded the French Legion of Honour in 1945.

10.  Apart from being a licensed pilot, he founded India's first commercial airline, Tata Airlines (now known as Air India), in 1932.
