THE ARTISTRY OF AMRITA SHER-GIL

Sher-Gil was a Hungarian-Indian painter who lived her life in Hungary, Paris and India. She was known to combine Indian elements with European oil painting techniques she had learned in Paris. Known to be an exceptional colourist Sher-Gil was a pioneer in modern Indian art.
