Sadhan Pande, the West Bengal Minister for Consumer Affairs and Self-Help Groups, died on Sunday morning in Mumbai. The eight-term MLA was 71 years old. Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, revealed the death of a cabinet member via Twitter.
Banerjee tweeted, “Our senior colleague, party leader, and Cabinet Minister Sadhan Pande has passed away today morning at Mumbai. Had a wonderful relation for long. Deeply pained at this loss. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, followers.”
Pande received treatment for kidney problems at a Mumbai hospital for a few months and had lately been put on breathing.
Both state ministers, Sujit Bose, and Shashi Panja would travel to Mumbai to bring back his lifeless remains.
Pande was a member of the Congress before joining the Trinamool Congress following his defeat in the 1998 Lok Sabha elections. After the TMC took power in West Bengal in 2011, he
was appointed state minister. Since that time, he has been in charge of the Consumer Affairs, Self-Help Groups, and Self-Employment sections
