WhatsApp Monthly Report
According to the (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, which set forth the new IT regulations, it recently released monthly reports detailing the actions it takes in response to complaints it receives from WhatsApp users in India.
Over 23 lakh Indian accounts on WhatsApp were banned in August 2022 due to new IT regulations. About 10 lakh of the banned accounts were proactively banned before being reported by users, according to the User Safety Monthly Report.
Similar to what was reported in July, it reported a similar total number of banned accounts in August. WhatsApp responded to user complaints by taking action against the majority of the accounts.
The Team stated that the majority of the accounts were banned after receiving negative user feedback through the “Report” feature. Furthermore, the Meta-owned chat app received 598 grievance reports and took action on 19 of the accounts. Between August 1 and 30, it blocked 2,328,000 Indian accounts.
