The BJP put steps toward a big win at the Uttarakhand Assembly polls on Thursday after grabbing 48 of 70 seats even though Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami lost to the Congress’s Bhuwan Kapri from Khatima constituency. He lost the election by 6951 votes.
During the campaign, many believed that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami would struggle to maintain his Khatima seat in the Uttarakhand assembly elections.
On Thursday, things became serious.During his seven months, he tried unsuccessfully to build a complete link with the general populace in his area.
Dhami’s failure to secure his seat could be due to his lack of interaction with citizens during his seven months in office. In his location, his efforts to build a strong connection with the common populace were futile.
According to an unidentified trader, Dhami failed as CM during his six-month tenure, and Dhami failed to meet citizens’ expectations. Dhami visited Khatima multiple times but failed to provide adequate jobs, and unemployment is a major concern in Khatima. He also mentioned that he could have helped the state.
Kailash Manral, a close friend of Dhami’s, said it’s upsetting that Dhami lost his seat and that it’s something to consider. He also stated that while the defeat of the CM is not new for the state, now that the party has arrived with full might, the loss of the CM is a point where self-analysis is required.
Dhami commended the people for directing the establishment of a “double engine government.” He expressed gratitude to the people of Uttarakhand, saying that they have put their faith in the “double engine government” led by Modi Ji.
Dhami was almost a BJP candidate for chief minister, as the party was on a quest to find a five-year term for the “young and vibrant” leader to carry out the party’s ambitious vision for Uttarakhand’s growth. It will be interesting to see what the BJP leadership decides next.
