Shocking story from Bengaluru where a woman was arrested on Sunday, 23rd July, 2024 for attempting to murder her boyfriend. The 36-year-old woman is a resident of south Bengaluru, Jigani area.
The crime scene
Police report that the victim who was stabbed is Jogesh, a 35-year-old man. He claims that he and his girlfriend, Jintu Das argued on Friday, 21st July 2024, which intensified. Jintu then grabbed a knife and stabbed Jogesh repeatedly, injuring him seriously and fled the scene. The incident took place in Viveknagar. Jogesh was taken to St. John’s Hospital and his condition was critical.
The Unlikely Couple
Both Jogesh and Jintu Das are from Assam. They moved to Bengaluru for work and had been in a relationship for two years after Jintu Das divorced her husband in 2020. She had a 16-year-old daughter who was living with her in the Jigani area. Jogesh worked as a security guard in an apartment and Jintu Das worked as a helper in a daycare in the city. The two met through a mutual friend in 2021.
The cause of the conflict and the violent incident was not something that happened out of the blue for the couple. According to reports, they had been arguing and fighting for months together over financial issues. Moreover, Jogesh had engaged in an affair with another woman which Jintu Das had been made aware of. The escalation of the argument happened because even though Jintu Das supported Jogesh financially seeing as they were in a relationship, he was also with another woman. This angered her to the point of using violence.Â
Crimes over illicit love affairs
A jilted lover becoming a heinous murderer is not unheard of. Just like in the case of Jintu Das, several others have committed such acts because they are on the receiving end of heartbreak due to an adulterous partner. Recently, a woman from Bengaluru named Ranjitha and her lover Ganesh, with a few of his friends, Shivananda, Sharath and Deepak made a plan. They attacked and killed Ranjitha’s husband Arun Kumar who was a hotelier. He ran a restaurant in South Bengaluru, Uttarahalli.
Ganesh used to supply water cans to Arun Kumar’s hotel. He also claims to have lent Kumar a few lakhs as he was indebted to some private money lenders. During this, Ganesh and Ranjitha had begun their affair. Kumar reportedly had gotten to know of his adulterous wife’s story and warned Ganesh to leave her. He had also beaten up his wife over the same issue but the couple continued their affair. To put an end to all the secrecy, they came up with a plan to kill Arun Kumar.Â
Resorting to violence
Many others resort to violence and commit impulse crimes without realising how much of an impact it makes on their life and the ones around them. It seems that many of these perpetrators do not think about their actions and end up doing what feels right to them in that singular moment. A well-planned crime also can be done under the influence of thoughts that crowd one’s mind in a state of confusion. Many a times we see that people who commit crimes do not feel remorse or regret, this is because of their flawed logic with regards to their actions. They feel that the other person’s actions warranted this kind of reaction.
Conclusion
Jintu Das, as mentioned before, fled the scene after she stabbed Jogesh in Viveknagar. The police found her and arrested her from Wilson Garden, where she was hiding in her relatives’ house. She intended on boarding a train to Assam once the coast was clear. Investigation into her motives is underway.Â
