The smartphone industry has been taken by a storm with the current foldable smartphone market which is further popularized more by the youth’s inclination towards the smartphone.
The flip smartphone market came from the revival from Samsung’s Flip series. Though, the original flip smartphone design came from Motorola. There has been an upsurge of flip smartphones in popularity with their slip screens and the ability to conveniently use a back camera as a selfie camera thereby not compromising the camera quality.
In order to respond to these demands, companies like Motorola, Samsung and OnePlus are constantly trying to innovate new ideas into the foldable smartphone industry.
Xiaomi Enters
Not too long ago, Samsung launched its new generation of foldable smartphones with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. The current rumors that have been hovering in the tech industry suggest that Xiaomi is entering the Flip phone market very soon.
According to a report by 9to5Google quoting the Digital Chat Station’s Weibo post, they have stated that the Xiaomi Mix Flip smartphone will be coming to the market very soon as suggested by IMEI database record 2311BPN23C, indicating it’s in the initial production phase.
The post states that the smartphone belongs to the MIX series of their smartphones. Their phone is thin, light and portable with a vertical folding mechanism. In terms of camera, the picture quality is adequate and the male and female are grasping with both hands. It is also notable that the process of production is ahead of its schedule.
If the report is true then it will be a remarkable development for Xiaomi with their first generation of flip phones as the fold market has already been entered with Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 being the latest in their models.
The Design of the Xiaomi Mix Flip
Now, the expectation of Xiaomi with their clamshell foldable smartphone which actually looks a lot like the Galaxy Z phones in resemblance.
Xiaomi or particularly the Chinese smartphone companies are notorious for having smartphones that take a big chunk of their designs and features into the Xiaomi market from other companies. Apple’s dynamic island feature, widget design and system and the iPhone body design are few of the features that have been copied from the iOS into Xiaomi and other Chinese smartphone companies.
Till now, there is limited information available regarding the Xiaomi Mix Flip. The leaks have hinted that the smartphone will have vertical folding with an extra thin body. However, the comparison is yet to be known about the slimness and weight distribution of the smartphone with that of the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Xiaomi may come up with more interesting features or designs to be included in the final version in order to make a market and thereby, give tough competition to other brands with their foldable smartphones.
The Elite Price
In the matters of price, foldable smartphones are already selling similarly to the high end smartphones with Xiaomi’s Mix Fold 3 priced at $1500, i.e., 1,25,000 rupees. Therefore, the Flip phone should be estimated around that region if not more than the Fold. This is because the Fold smartphones cost more than their Flip counterparts in the technology market.
If Xiaomi is able to produce a comparatively cheaper model than Samsung or even Motorola, they might be able to compete in the market by providing a cheaper option.
Rumors have also pointed out that the market of this phone will be limited in China. However, the official confirmation of the information shall be revealed at the time of launch.
