Cricket fans witnessed the mind-blowing innings of Yadav who scored unbeaten 48 runs. Axar Patel also proved his upgraded skills as he smashes 38 runs off just 17 balls.Â
Patel and Yadav’s Remarkable PartnershipÂ
Delhi Capitals was down 72 for 5 in the first 10 overs but the lesser-known Delhi all-rounder Yadav led the team to victory as he kept his cool during his 38-ball unbeaten knock. The Indian all-rounder Axar Patel stepped in the game like a fire ready to spread. He made a quick 38 run score out of just 17 balls and remained not out as DC won the game in 18.2 overs, leaving 10 balls to spare.Â
Yadav hit four boundaries and two sixes, while Patel had two hours and three maximums as the duo stitched a match-winning 75-run partnership from 30 balls for the seventh wicket.Â
After an ordinary day with the ball (4-0-40-0), Axar Patel surprised the fans with his best performance with the bat as DC was in a desperate state to chase the runs.Â
DC had lost its prominent batters in the initial stage of the innings. Prithvi Shaw got out at 38 runs, Rishabh Pant at 1 and Rovman Powell was out for a duck.Â
The poor performance of the key players of DC left little hope in the hearts of the fans and the team as well. But Yadav’s patience and Axar’s energy together combined to become a great partnership and they led the team towards victory.Â
MI were a bit sloppy on the field as Patel made full use of his dropped catch by Daniel Sams on 15. Sams also leaked 24 runs in the crucial 18th over with Yadav hitting consecutive boundaries. Axar Patel had also managed to sneak out a commendable six in the final ball as they sealed the match, reaching 179 in 18.2 overs.Â
Delhi Capital’s star-opener, the Australian recruit David Warner was unavailable for the initial few matches. So, Kiwi recruit Tim Seifert replaced Warner in his new opening role for Delhi. He took on Bumrah up front, and shocked the viewers as he opened with a hit that went over Bumrah’s head for a boundary.
Seifert dished out another stunner against Bumrah, this time a lofted drive over cover in a shot that had class written all over it.Â
Shaw also started it off with a sixer and DC cruised to 30 in three overs. Rohit had Murugan Ashwin (4-0-14-2) as the leg-spinner in the fourth over. Ashwin deluded Seifert with a wrong one to clean up the Kiwi wicketkeeper-batter through the gate.Â
After Ashwin, Thampi (4-0-35-3) crushed Delhi Capitals with his triple strikes who were- Shaw, Rovman Powell and Shardul Thakur.Â
Ishan Kishan who is a wicketkeeper-batter anchored Mumbai innings to a fighting 177 runs for 5 with an unbeaten 81. The 23-year-old opener was the most expensive asset of the IPL auction for 2022. He definitely proved his worth as he smashed 11 fours and two sixes in his 48-ball unbeaten knock.Â
Mumbai debutant Tilak Varma also impressed by hitting 22 runs off 15 balls. The Jharkhand batter who stepped on the gas in the death overs and also displayed the infamous helicopter shot to notch up the total.
