Two days before the third phase of voting in Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi Adityanath stepped up his attacks on opposition Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Mainpuri is deemed as the Yadav family’s stronghold.
On February 18, UP CM predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would win all four Assembly constituencies in Mainpuri.
Adityanath called the massive Ram temple being constructed in Ayodhya as the “Rashtra Mandir” of India. According to ANI, CM was heard, stating,
“By 2024, a great temple dedicated to Lord Ram would be completed in Ayodhya. This Ram Temple would be India’s ‘Rashtra Mandir.”
Karhal in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district has long been a strength of the Samajwadi Party, and Mulayam Singh Yadav represents the party from the community.
SP leader Akhilesh Yadav will contest the Karhal seat for the first time.
The poll for the assembly seat will take place on February 20, the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections.
In yet another rally in Kanpur, CM Yogi mentioned the Ram Temple once more, assuring the public that the idol of Lord Ram will be installed in the temple in Ayodhya by the end of 2024, laying the groundwork for the nation to have a “Ram Rajya.”
“By the conclusion of next year, the idol of Ram Lalla will be relocated to the great Ram Temple in Ayodhya, clearing the way for the creation of ‘Ram Rajya’ in India,”
stated the Chief Minister.
The 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh see a significant shift in the pattern, with both primary opponents – CM Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav – entering the contest.
Since 2007, each CM of UP, including Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, and Adityanath, chose the legislative council path to get the designation of the CM.
Adityanath is currently an MLC, whereas Akhilesh Yadav is an MP.
Priyanka Chaturvedi, Shiv Sena’s MP, told her stance on Yogi’s statement to the ANI.
She said,
“Talking about the issue frequently from the political stage demonstrates that the BJP government believes that they can still exploit the issue. The entire country has recognized the judgment because it came from the Supreme Court.”
The Shiv Sena MP further stated that there would be a change in leadership in Uttar Pradesh following the Assembly elections.
“I have a humble request for CM Yogi: the citizens of Uttar Pradesh do not want to know when the temple will be built, but when they might be able to find work.
There will be a change of government (in Lucknow) in a few days,”
she claimed.
On the 10th and 14th of February, the state held two rounds of polls. The final five phases will occur on February 20, February 23, February 27, March 3, and March 7.
The counting of the votes will begin on March 10.
