During his initial trip to Prayagraj following the demise of Atiq Ahmed, a former criminal who turned into a politician, and his sibling, Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commented that certain individuals had caused the region to suffer due to their immoral actions.
Atiq Ahmed, who was being escorted by police for the medical checkup, was giving an interview to reporters in Prayagraj (also known as Allahabad) when a gun was brought close to his head. On the night of Saturday, shots were fired and three individuals who had pretended to be journalists promptly surrendered and were arrested. Ahmed’s son, who was a teenager, had been killed by police a few days before.
Over the course of the last 20 years, Atiq Ahmed has been accused of several crimes such as kidnapping, murder, and extortion, resulting in dozens of registered cases against him. In March of this year, a regional court convicted him along with two others of kidnapping and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
While speaking at a public gathering at Press Ground in Lukerganj on the final day of the first phase of local body elections in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath used a quote from the Ramcharitmanas to emphasize that the universe is governed by the law of karma, and every individual ultimately reaps the consequences of their actions.
Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, cited a verse from Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas that highlights the universal principle of karma during a public meeting at Press Ground in Lukerganj. The verse, “Karma pradhan vishwa rachi Rakha. Jo jis karhi, so tas phal chakha,” emphasizes that every individual is accountable for their actions and must face the consequences of their deeds. Adityanath noted that this centuries-old phrase remains pertinent in contemporary times.
The posters found throughout Prayagraj, including at the rally site, greeted Yogi Adityanath with the title “Hindu hridaya samrat,” which translates to “the emperor of Hindu hearts.”
Yogi Adityanath referred to the Allahabad High Court in Prayagraj and remarked that the city draws 250 million people from across the state seeking justice, but paradoxically, the land itself had been subjected to iniquity and cruelty.
Furthermore, Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister stated, “Yeh prakriti… sabka hisab barabar kar deti hai,” which translates to “This nature…equalizes everyone’s account.”
Speaking to the audience, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath remarked that everyone present was witnessing the demise of those who used to supply others with makeshift weapons known as ‘tamancha.’
It is worth noting that the rally took place in the Lukerganj locality, where the Uttar Pradesh government had previously confiscated unlawful land from Atiq Ahmed and built homes for the impoverished. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath revealed that the distribution of these dwellings would occur imminently.
During his speech, Yogi Adityanath cautioned that any land unlawfully occupied by delinquents and offenders would be confiscated and transformed into housing for the needy.
Yogi Adityanath appealed for a majority for the BJP in the Prayagraj municipal elections and guaranteed that his administration would continue to maintain a policy of “zero tolerance” towards “criminality and corruption.”
