Savukku Kumar is a YouTuber from Tamil Nadu. He has been charged by the Madras High Court for passing objectionable statements on the higher jurisdiction. The statement was made on July 22nd. The video was supposedly watched by the Tamil Nadu government authority figures.
Post which, on Thursday, 15th September, Mr.Kumar has been charged with contempt. The court is yet to seek an explanation for doing this kind of act. Mr. Kumar has been charged with suo moto contempt proceedings.
The court has given clear instructions to Mr. Kumar to be present in the court within the court for a valid explanation. The charges were filed on Mr. Shankar by Justice G.R. Swaminathan and B. Pugelhendi. They say that, why can’t Mr. Shankar be held guilty for making such a statement in the public domain?
The decision of the court will be pending until the transcripts of the court are presented in front of the court. When Mr. Shankar was interviewed in this case, he did not make any other statement or do anything. He was firm with whatever statement he made in court.
As the words were said in such a way that they could not be forgotten by Mr. Shankar. He also provided the transcripts to the court. Savukku Kumar made the statement,” the entire judiciary is riddled with corruption”. For this statement, he was called by the court and also charged for the same.
Savakku Shankar has requested the court to suspend his sentence. He filed the request on the basis of section 389 which allows the convicted person to file a request for suspension of sentence. The court may grant permission if the appeal is done within 3 years of committing the offense or crime. Saakku Kumar was denied the request made in spite of being less than years old. Therefore, the article would be thus updated for clarification purposes.
There are also stories made regarding this. One of them is that justice Swaminathan met someone to give a verdict against YouTuber Shankar because Shankar is a right-winger. This is an alleged theory against justice Swaminathan. When the statement was made by Shankar, he already had a contempt charge against him (it was filed against him 3 days before he made the statement). Savkku Shankar also made statements on G Square Realtors. The company has filed a case and a restraining order against Shankar which demands Rs. 1 crore as compensation.
The case is yet to be resolved. The charges are still on Savukku Shankar.
