Chinese Zheng Qinwen lost the French open fourth round to Poland Iga Swiatek on Monday due to Menstrual cramps.
Zheng Qinwen stated that she had no pain during the opening, but she still took medical time out at 3-0 points in the second. “Zheng loses French Open to Swiatek”
However, Zheng claimed the opener in s playoff before IGA took control of the game.
Initially, she didn’t have any pain during the opening set but still she took medical time out at 3-0 and had a back massage in the court before heading to the locker room and returning with right thigh strapped.
Zheng’s comments –
She stated, ‘Yeah, the leg was also tough. That compared to the stomach was easy… I cannot play tennis, my stomach hurts.’
‘It’s just girls’ things, you know. The first day is always so tough and then I have to do sport and I always have so much pain on the first day. And I couldn’t go against my nature,’she added. “Zheng loses French Open to Swiatek”
However, Zheng Qinwen who ranked 74 in the world of tennis, played her best in the game but because of her cramps, she lost.
She also wished that she could be a man on court so that she couldn’t have felt the pain and didn’t have to suffer.
Although, Qinwen said,’If I don’t talk about today, I’m happy with my performance on this run.’
‘And to play against the number one in the world, I felt I really enjoyed it on the court,’she added.
‘If I don’t have my stomach (pain) I think I could enjoy more, like to run better and to hit harder, to give more effort on court. It’s a pity that I couldn’t give what I want to give today’, Zheng added.
