The AIMIM leader got arrested. In a violence-related case by Karnataka police, who provoked a crowd in Hubballi, a few days back, he posted a video on social media hurting the sentiments of a community.
According to a source, his name is Waseem Pathan, and he is a cleric. He was arrested in Mumbai on Wednesday night and was brought to Hubballi the next morning.
Before the arrest, he posted a video online in which he was seen saying that he didn’t provoke violence, but he came to the area and asked people to go home and maintain peace.
In his statement, he said that “I went there to pacify the crowd, and the police asked me to address the mob by standing on their vehicle. There was no mic and I was saying that justice would be delivered and told everyone to go home. “
But minutes after his address, the crowd started pelting stones at the police vehicles. Vandalises police vehicles. It all started after a youth named Abhishek Hirenath allegedly shared a derogatory and edited photograph on his WhatsApp status.
In further investigation, police have arrested 126 people, including Mohammed Arif and Irfan Nalvatwad, the husband of AIMIM corporator Hussainbi Nalvatwad.
Abhishek is also in judicial custody, and the court has allowed him to write his 2nd PUC examination as a commerce student.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Sunday that the incident was an unpardonable offence and the police would not hesitate to take strict action against all involved, and he requested that we not give any political colour to the politics
