An 18-year-old student from Falaknuma was apprehended by Telangana police intelligence after he was allegedly spotted perusing terrorist websites in an effort to contact them.
According to intelligence authorities, the teenager, known as Suleiman from Hyderabad, was detained as a precaution since he reportedly looked to be attempting to attract the attention of ISIS and other outlawed terror organizations and would be tempted to join terror outfits through online.
Though Intelligence officers verified that the teenager had been apprehended and booked, the municipal police denied it, claiming that ‘no such thing had occurred.’
Chaitanya Kumar, the intelligence wing commissioner, acknowledged the probe of the student. S. Sai Chaitanya, DCP, South Zone, claimed that No one was taken up by the police for interrogation or imprisonment.
Even the policemen at the station house and the assistant commissioners of police stated that they had received many calls and that nothing of the like had occurred. Officials are investigating and interviewing him about his motivations for conducting the searches and using social media applications to call their attention to him.
the officials claimed that the 18-year Olds’s call data is being examined, and cybercrime officials are tracing his internet activity by confiscating his phone. Any additional connections are not yet discovered. It will be completed in due course. The cybercrime unit took the help of Internet Protocol (IP) address, to track and arrest the student
Senior state police officers, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated, that the teen is quite young, and they are finding out his passion behind this online extremism. He went on to say that, exploring and contacting terror groups is the first step for the passionate lot, followed by finance mobilization, and the third stage is organizing groups and lobbying.
Previously, in 2018, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained eight Hyderabad teenagers for plotting terror acts on ISIS’s orders. The same year, NIA agents apprehended two other people in the city in a different case for plotting terror strikes in the nation and having ties to ISIS.
