The Covid outbreak in China powerfully exploded this year amid its restrictive ‘zero covid policy’. If reports were to be believed, a single province in China is witnessing more than half a million cases daily. Infections rate, containment zones, hospital rush, fatalities, etc. are strictly monitored by the State, and information in the public domain is totally grappled with officials.
Covid Outbreak: The Horrible Figure
Until the second half of December, nearly 18% of the Chinese population has contracted the infection. More than 200 million people across the many provinces of mainland China have caught the virus already. Reports of the National Health Commission of China suggested the above data about the Covid outbreak.
After China systematically dismantled the Zero Covid Policy, the surge in infection begin to rise. However, the estimated figure most probably tally with reality, but the official date is surprisingly unbelievable which is just 3049 cases for that day which is believed to have half a million cases!
Yesterday, the Government decide to stop publishing the daily caseload figures for undefined purposes in a surprising move.
More than half the residents of Sichuan province, in the capital Beijing, have been infected, according to the agency’s estimates.
The highly contagious Omicron variant is infecting people with low natural immunity.
The Role of China’s Zero Covid Policy amid outbreak
At present, China is suffocating due to its Zero Covid Policy and the absence of an exit plan. On 7 December, China relaxed the policy and from then a significant rise in infection cases began. The year-long strict Covid policy in China was apparently removed by Xi Jinping’s government amid civilian protests across the state.
The harsh lockdown locked millions of residents in their houses for months. The mental, social, and chronic state of citizens begin to disturb, which as a result invoked tension against the measures and voices began to raise against the government in many states.
Mass protests on the streets were reported and huge criticism of the government on social media surfaced.
The government then suddenly reduces the curb and begin to lift the year-long policy unaware of the fact that its citizens did not have developed herd natural immunity because a large section of its population was not contracted the virus. The two Chinese vaccines are also not proven effective.
Revised Panic mode of Covid Outbreak in the World
The World witnessed horrible chaos and misery in 2020 and 2021 due to the Corona pandemic and willfully struggled against the worldwide outbreak with the help of each other. The pandemic severely affected the social, political, economical, and most importantly mental state of the people.
The support of a resilience chain supply of essential commodities across the Globe and not sustainable but at least widespread distribution of Covid vaccines across the countries helped us in the fight against Corona. In far last 1 year, countries across the Globe finally started improving their fragile state of economy.
This time the World is cautious but also skeptical about the future amid China’s Covid outbreak. A large proportion of the World’s population is now vaccinated and also has developed herd natural immunity against the viruses. But the mutating state of the virus may reduce the effectiveness of these things.
Precautions in India amid Covid Outbreak in China
The recent surge in China is possibly due to the BF.7 strain of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus which is highly contagious. In India, various measures are being taken to keep the situation under control.
N. K. Arora, the chief of The National Immunisation Technical Advisory Group has said that we will have to be vigilant amid the outbreak.
In a recent development, the government on Saturday announced that passengers from China, Japan, S. Korea, Hongkong, and Thailand will have to bring a negative covid test certificate when they travel to India.
Those who test positive for covid test upon their arrival in India would be put under quarantine, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said.
In India, the majority of the population has been vaccinated. The presence of herd immunity is also a plus point for India. But, the upcoming 3-4 months are very crucial in this regard whether there will be normalcy or lockdown!
