Russia’s attack on Ukraine continues for the 6th consecutive day. Meanwhile, under Operation Ganga, the mission to bring back Indians trapped in Ukraine is also going on. In this regard, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting on Tuesday evening. This was the fourth meeting in two days in the Ukraine case.
Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that the PM has decided to send 26 flights in 3 days to evacuate Indians from Ukraine. Apart from Bucharest and Budapest, airports in Poland and Slovak will also be used to airlift Indians.
Shringla said that the PM had expressed grief over Indian student Naveen Shekharappa in Ukraine. India is in touch with the local authority of Ukraine to bring back the body of Naveen Shekharappa.
Twelve thousand students have left Ukraine
Shringla further said that all our citizens had left Kyiv; according to the information we have, we have no more citizens in Kyiv, no one has contacted us from there. There were about 20,000 Indian students in Ukraine when we issued our first advisory; about 12,000 students have left Ukraine.
Of the remaining 60% of students, about half are in conflict zones, and half have reached or are on the way to Ukraine’s western border.
Air India’s eighth plane reached Delhi from Budapest
Air India’s 8th aircraft carrying 218 Indians stranded in Ukraine reached New Delhi from Budapest, Hungary. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya received the passengers. Earlier, Air India’s 7th flight had reached Mumbai carrying 182 Indians.
So far, a total of 1,836 Indians has been brought back to the country by eight flights under Operation Ganga.
Kiren Rijiju to accompany SpiceJet aircraft as special envoy
SpiceJet also sends a plane to Kosice, Slovakia, to bring back Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju is reaching Kosice as a special envoy of the Government of India to monitor it.
Before leaving for Slovakia, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said- Leaving for Slovakia, will coordinate the operation there and hand over the message of PM Modi to the Prime Minister there. This operation would be difficult without the cooperation of the government there. Our ambassadors are working tirelessly.
PM calls air force
Airforce has agreed to evacuate Indian nationals from Ukraine. The help of the Indian Air Force is being sought to rescue the stranded Indians in Ukraine. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the Air Force to help in evacuating more people in less time.
The Indian Air Force is deploying several C-17 aircraft in Operation Ganga. C-17 Globemaster and IL-76 are ready for flight at Hindon airbase. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Ram Nath Kovind and briefed him on various issues, including Ukraine.
C-17 Globemaster made lifesaving from the Philippines to Kabul
The C-17 Globemaster flew 640 people during the unrest in Afghanistan. The Indian Air Force had twice airlifted Indians from Kabul in a C-17 Globemaster aircraft. India has 11 C-17 Globemaster aircraft. The outer structure of this aircraft is so strong that it is not affected by rifle and small arms firing.
PM Modi held a high-level meeting on Monday evening
While chairing a high-level meeting on the Ukraine crisis on Monday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the entire government machinery is working round the clock to ensure that all Indians stranded in Ukraine remain safe.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said- This was the second high-level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on the current situation in Ukraine.
Four ministers of India took charge
Four ministers of the central government have reached the neighboring countries of Ukraine and have taken over the responsibility of airlifting Indians from there. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is in Budapest, Hungary.
Jyotiraditya Scindia is coordinating in Romania and Moldova. Kiren Rijiju is handling the arrangements in Slovakia and VK Singh in Poland.
Surjewala hit back at Joshi
Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala has retaliated on Prahlad Joshi’s statement. He said- the Modi government has left 20,000 children on their own, turned their backs with responsibility and is finding faults among Indian students who have gone to Ukraine.
It isn’t very comfortable. It is the culmination of insensitivity and pride of power. Apologize to the children and their families.
