A 300-year-old temple in Alwar was razed after claims of unlawful encroachment, while the BJP and Congress blamed each other.
The issue of illegal encroachment is raging across the nation. It looks like the state governments of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, and now Rajasthan is waging a war against illegal occupation.
Earlier, the BJP-ruled states of UP, MP, and Gujarat demolished illegal encroachment by major entities. Later, Delhi authorities razed a portion of a mosque in Jahangirpuri, Delhi.
The issue is rapidly escalating. In Rajasthan, the government authorities ordered the demolition of a 300-year-old temple in Alwar. The BJP is blaming Congress for the demolition. Satish Poonia, BJP, asked, “How can a 300-year-old temple be an encroachment?” Furthermore, he has appointed an investigating team on the spot to look into the matter.
Who is responsible for the demolition of temples in Alwar?
On Sunday, around 86 shops and houses, along with a 300-year-old temple, were cleared to make way for a road. However, since the state is owned by Congress, the members of the Congress party have cleared their way through by blaming it on the BJP government.
According to the ruling Congress in Rajasthan, the orders to demolish the temple were given during the rule of Vasundhara Raje, when the BJP was in power in the state. It was a part of the construction of the “Gaurav Path” assured by the BJP government to pass through that area.
The Congress accuses that Rajgarh, where the temple is located, is controlled majorly by the BJP. Rajasthan Urban Development Minister Shanti Dhariwal stated, “This was their (municipal council’s) decision.” The state government had nothing to do with it. They never asked the government for any direction, and they never got any direction from us”.
“In fact, when a temple is to be removed, it’s to be considered carefully. But the Rajgarh municipal council never asked for directions; it is ruled entirely by the BJP, which passed a resolution for demolition,” Dhariwal added.
The “anti-encroachment” drive initiated by the BJP in UP and MP is gradually turning violent. People are getting agitated due to the demolition of their temples and mosques.
However, the Supreme Court of India has ordered to put a stop to the demolitions pending the court’s order. Following the demolitions in Jahangirpuri, the matter was taken to the highest court. The Supreme Court is conducting hearing sessions for the case.
