Noida: A 21-year old undergraduate student of Sociology was shot at point-blank range on Thursday afternoon by her classmate who later shot himself dead inside his hostel room.
The incident took place outside the dining hall of Shiv Nadar University at about 1.08pm when Anuj Singh, shot his female friend, Sneha Chaurasiya over some dispute. Both of them were students of Sociology final year.

Silhouetted forms of Anuj and Sneha were seen having a conversation behind a frosted glass door during which the former hugs the latter, only to fire her twice – in the chest and abdomen. Doctors confirmed dead when she was brought to the hospital.
Meanwhile Anuj mailed a confession statement titled ‘my suicide note’, to a university group, 10 minutes before committing the crime.
According to police, shortly after shooting his classmate, Anuj went to his room in the boy’s hostel and shot himself. Police had recovered the pistol from his room.

A 22-minute clip was sent to the university authorities around 1.20pm. There he said that he was in a relationship with Sneha recently, but were no longer together. “Sneha came to my life and changed it completely”, he adds and reveals that his sister was “immolated by her husband”. His “chacha” allegedly died of a heart attack after his wife left him to be with someone else. “She made everything look beautiful” and helped her overcome difficult personal situation, following which they had bonded.
But since last December, things had started deteoriating with arguments becoming frequent. He suspected that Sneha was cheating on him.They had decided to start “afresh” after coming back from home. However, when she returned, she wanted an “indefinite break”. Ties between them had started getting worse – “This broke me completely”.
In the clip, he confessed of his trust issues and also said that he had been suffering from “third stage brain cancer” but did not wish to tell his parents.
Talking with other students of the university, police came to know that they were “good friends” and were seen together many a times. DCP, greater Noida Saad Miya Khan told that teachers and classmates are being questioned thoroughly.
Official sources came to know that some final year students had stayed back in the summer break in college due to the convocation on May 26.
Police had started keen investigation into the matter and prompt action will be taken, added a senior officer. University officials expressed heartfelt condolences to the affected families and were deeply grieved by the unfortunate loss of two student lives at their campus.
