Four suspected Khalistani terrorists were captured and arrested at 4 am at Bastara toll plaza in Haryana. They were enroute to move explosives to Maharashtra’s Nanded and Telangana’s Adilabad.
The accused identified themselves as Bhupinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Parminder Singh, and Amandeep Singh, all from Punjab.
Citing an official’s statement, “The weapons were air-dropped using a drone by Khalistani terrorist Harjinder Singh Rinda from Pakistan in Ferozepur district.”
The police have recovered a gun and 31 live cartridges, three improvised explosive devices of 2.5kg each, six cell phones, and money amounting to Rs 1.3 lakh.
“Preliminary information suggests they were basically acting as couriers and transporting these arms and ammunition in an Innova vehicle and were headed to Adilabad in Telangana. They will be produced before a court and taken on police remand, after which they will be questioned in detail,” Karnal Range Inspector General of Police Satender Kumar Gupta said.
The police officials mentioned that the key suspect, Gurpreet, was previously in prison, where he met a Rajbeer, who was connected with Pakistan. Gurpreet and the three others were used to convey explosives across India. The four have joined Pakistan’s surveillance agency, Inter-Services Intelligence, ISI.
