The Jammu and Kashmir Police detained more than 430 overground workers [OGW’s] as they had an association with various terror outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The workers are being questioned over their involvement in the terror groups and their alleged support in the recent attacks and killings of the Kashmiri Pandits.Â
It is believed that the OGW’s were residents of the valley, hailing predominantly from Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian.
These detaining are considered one of the most significant victories of the Jammu and Kashmir police against the local terrorists and terror outfits. After thorough questioning and investigation, it was found out that one of the detainees is a powerful drugs supplier based in Kashmir.
According to the investigations carried out by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the terrorists involved in the killing of the Kashmiri Pandits were indeed local people generally known as neo-recruits or hybrid terrorists who were lured into the various terror organizations/outfits by different handlers.
The handlers were people based in Pakistan. These handlers gave multiple tasks to these neo-recruits. These tasks include transportation of drugs or money to carry out attacks and create an environment of terror in the valley.
These handlers carried out transportation of weaponry, and these transported weapons such as pistols were used to execute the terror attacks.
Terrorists and terror organizations involved identified
A Tawseef Ahmed Wani of Bangdara village in Baramulla and Faiz Ahmed Khan of Panzat in Anantnag district were identified as the operatives of the Resistance Front[TRF] were arrested, and the police hinted that more arrests might follow after conducting a more thorough investigation in the matter.
The National Investigation Agency involvement was seen when 40 more people were summoned before the NIA. The NIA questioned them over the investigations related to killing a female school principal from Kashmir who had a Kashmiri Sikh background.
A colleague of the dead woman was also found dead at a boy’s higher secondary school in Srinagar’s Eidgadh locality last Thursday.Â
The people connected with the targeted killings were involved in stone-pelting on security forces during many different incidents. The detainees were also involved in stone-pelting against the Jamait-e-Islami and Tehreek-e-Huriyat members. These people are suspected of having links with terrorists or are trying to stimulate communal tension in the valley and India.Â
During the investigation, the investigating agencies have identified the voice of a terrorist, who, in a viral video clip circulated over social media, is claiming responsibility under a new terror outfit known as the Geelani Force.
A new rivalry has erupted between the Geelani Force and The Resistance Front over the claiming as the executor of the civilian killings, the killings of the Kashmiri Pandits. The Geelani Force warned The Resistance Front not to take credit for something they had not done.Â
An officer from the police force gave a statement saying the voice recognized was of a known terror recruit based in Kulgam; It proves that Lashkar-e-Toiba was behind the killings of the Pandits.
The overground workers will be arrested after more facts and proof come out during the investigation and questioning. Most probably, they will be sent to jails outside the valley in Jammu, or the police are thinking of sending them to prisons in other states.
The OGW’s arrest coincides with the investigation and search procedure of the NIA at seven different locations, which include Kulgam, Srinagar and Baramulla districts of J&K.
The NIA case is related to the recovery of IED from a LET terrorist found in Bhiwandi, Jammu. He was accused of conspiring and indulging in terror attacks in J&K.
