Rajya Sabha on Thursday gave farewell to 72 members who are leaving this year from March-July, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising their contributions and MPs lovingly recalling their experiences. Prime Minister Modi arrived in the area this morning for a group photo with Rajya Sabha members who will be leaving in the coming months.
The Prime Minister was seen shaking hands with the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, as he approached the Centre of the picture opportunity area the two were seen chatting and laughing for quite some time.
The Prime Minister stated in the Upper House that the retiring MPs include individuals who have served in the Rajya Sabha for three or four terms and hailed their presence and the experience they carry. He also said the knowledge that was gained here should be taken to each and every part of our country.
“This Parliament has been in session for a long time. This House has also made a significant contribution to us. AK Anthony, Ambika Soni, P Chidambaram, Anand Sharma, Jairam Ramesh, Suresh Prabhu, Praful Patel, Dr Subramanian Swamy, Prasanna Acharya, Sanjay Raut, Naresh Gujral, Satish Chandra Mishra, MC Mary Kom, Swapan Dasgupta, and Dr Narendra Jadhav are among the 72 retiring members.
Sixty-five departing members represented 19 states, and seven other members were nominated. The departing MPs, according to the Prime Minister, are “reservoirs of experience.” “Experiences can be more valuable than academic knowledge in some cases.
We can solve problems faster with experience, and we can avoid making fresh mistakes “In the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated. He further stated that such members of parliament should bring their extensive experience to all sections of the country.
“When MPs with so much experience depart the House, there is a natural sense of loss. Those who lack experience are saddled with significantly more duties.The other leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP chief Sharad Pawar also bid their farewell to the MPs and even government and opposition leaders were seen greeting each other warmly.
