Dehradun – Delhi Vande Bharat Express is a newly launched train that faced a stone pelting incident on Sunday. It was the seventh stone pelting incident since the month of January. According to the railway officials, “it was the E1 coach where the stone was pelted near Muzaffarnagar station when the train was running on the Delhi-Dehradun Route. However, there was no injury during this incident, informed by the officials.
About the train Delhi – Dehradun Vande Bharat Express
The commercial train Delhi (Anand Vihar)-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express started on the very 29 May 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his own hands had flagged off the Vande Bharata train. This train was first introduced in Uttarakhand. This train runs on all days of the week except Wednesday. It covers 302 km between Anand Vihar and Dehradun in total 4 hours and 45 minutes. It was started with a mindset to not only boost connectivity with Uttarakhand but also reduce travel time by 1 hour and 25 minutes.
Stone Pelting incident: Why so common nowadays?Â
The incident of stone pelting has become a very common thing to happen to the trains in recent days. It started since the month of January. In January stones were pelted at the Vande Bharat train in Visakhapatnam during maintenance. The coach ‘s glass pane got damaged near Kancharapalem in Visakhapatnam. This information was given by Anup Kumar Sethupati, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) , said, “Some unknown persons pelted stones at Vande Bharat train as it reached Visakhapatnam for maintenance and train run.”
The second incident of stone pelting again happened in then month of January. That time due to the pelting action the stone get damaged and got broked of the Vande Bharat Express. It happened when train was at the route connecting Howrah to New Jalpaiguri near Malda.
After that In the month of March also, an incident of stone pelting on Vande Bharat Express train was reported. This report was from the state, West Bengal. The central point of this incident was reported exact near Farrakka in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal.The information was given by Eastern Railway, stated, “window panes of a coach of the high-speed train were damaged,
Earlier, in the month of May also, a similar incident was reported. This incident was from Kerala where stones were pelted at Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express. Before that, on April 6, a fresh incident of stone pelting was reported at the Vande Bharat Express from Visakhapatnam, informed officials.Â
Following these continuous incidents the government has asked the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to get through this spontaneous act of threatening..
The division of Delhi has been mobilised to catch hold of the culprits on this serious matter when in January 2024, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) informed that two window panes were got damaged after the stones allegedly get damaged of the Vande Bharat Express train were left damaged after stones were allegedly pelted at the two coaches near the Phansidewa area of the Darjeeling district.
