The BJP government finished its nine years in power on Friday, Congress asked the party a series of nine questions about the economy, corruption, farmers, democracy, and national security.
According to Congress, Rahul Gandhi, a former party head, brought up nine important topics during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, and on this date, the Congress Party introduces a document featuring 9 Saal 9 Sawaal.
9 Saal, 9 Sawaal: The 9 Questions
Rahul Gandhi claimed that the BJP constructed a nine-year-old structure on false promises and the agony of the public by posting a list of inquiries under the hashtag “9 Saal, 9 Sawaal” on social media.
Why are unemployment and inflation in India increasing, questioned the Congress. Why did the wealthy get richer while the poor got poorer? Why are allies of PM Modi being given public property when economic inequality is widening?
Regarding farmers, the grand old party questioned why the minimum support price was not legally guaranteed and why the agreements struck with farmers while removing the three “black” agricultural laws had not been honoured. It also questioned why, as the Modi administration had promised, farmers’ incomes didn’t quadruple during the previous nine years.
The prime minister was questioned about allegations of corruption and cronyism and why he was jeopardizing people’s hard-earned investments in LIC and SBI to help his “friend” Adani. Why are you allowing thieves to get away? Why do you remain silent on the widespread corruption in BJP-ruled states, and why do you stand by and watch Indians suffer?
The Congress questioned why China continued to invade Indian territory even after you gave them a clear bill in 2020 with regard to national security.
The party said that a climate of fear was being fostered in society and questioned why deliberate politics of hatred were being employed for electoral benefits.
Why do you not speak out against the crimes committed against Dalits, SC, ST, OBCs, and minorities? The sixth query read, “Why are you ignoring the call for a caste census.”
The alleged abuse of democratic institutions to exact retribution on the opposition and the practice of politics of vengeance were the topics of the seventh question.
The Congress questioned the cause of the purported weakening of the programs designed for the benefit of the needy, the underprivileged, and indigenous peoples by reducing their budgets and enacting stringent regulations.
Why has the Modi government refused to make amends for the sad deaths of over 40 lakh people brought on by COVID-19? Why did you impose a lockdown unexpectedly, forcing thousands of workers to return home, and not offer any assistance? The last question was asked.
Congress Leader Supriya Srinate on Social Media
Supriya Shrinate, the head of the Congress’s social media team, mocked the BJP camp, saying that the government should celebrate the “Mahotsav” festival for its “failures”.
It is a “tragedy” how the government has attempted to conceal the fact that unemployment is at its highest level since independence. The poor now realize that the center has fallen into its own trap. Whether it was Lalit Modi, Mehul Choksi, or Vijay Mallya, fugitive businessmen defrauded the government of millions of dollars while it did little to stop them. The truth is that during their rule, 23 crore people from whom we had benefited between 2004 and 2014 were pulled below the poverty line.
BJP’s Reaction
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rejected the nine questions the Congress party had posed on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nine years in government on Friday, labeling them as “a mass of exaggerations and false representations.”. BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad claimed during a press conference that the queries were the product of the Congress’s “animosity towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi”
