Congress was caught in a political crisis in Rajasthan, last month
Last month, the Congress was caught in a political crisis in Rajasthan. The reason behind this crisis was that if CM Ashok Gehlot filed the nomination for Congress presidential election, Sachin Pilot will be the successor of Gehlot and appointed as the new CM of Rajasthan.
Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot invited the flak of the Congress leadership last month because MLAs who support him skipped the party’s directive meeting and held a separate meeting in Jaipur. The party meeting was held to pass a resolution that authorized the Congress chief to appoint Gehlot’s successor.
At that time, Ashok Gehlot wanted to contest the Congress presidential elections. However, later again, he altered his mind to file a nomination for the party presidential election.
Thereafter, Senior party leader, M Kharge entered the fray to contest the party presidential elections against his colleague Shashi Tharoor. Suspense persists over Ashok Gehlot’s fate as chief minister.
The Rajasthan state assembly elections are going to be held in the second half of 2024.
