Children’s Day is celebrated in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of our former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. In the year of 1952, international children’s day was first started in Geneva during the world conference on child welfare.

It is a little-known fact that the first Children’s Day in India was celebrated on November 20. This was done after the announcement by the United Nations to celebrate Children’s Day, on the said date. However, after Jawaharlal Nehru’s death in 1964, the date of the Children’s Day celebration was shifted to November 14 to honor his love and dedication to children.
Jawarharlal Nehru was known for his affection and immense love for children.
According to Jawaharlal Nehru, children are not only the epitome of simplicity and innocence, they are the future of this country. So, children should be brought up with care and lots of love. Only then will the social foundation of this country be strong.

The main purpose of celebrating children’s day is to spread awareness about child care, child education, and child rights in the country.
Children’s Day may seem like a day to celebrate their childhood. But in reality, it has some other meaning to celebrate. It is an initiative to educate children about value and worth in society. It is celebrated to inform people about children’s rights and ensure that children have those rights in every aspect of their lives. Only then, can it develop the nation as a whole.
Jawaharlal Nehru once said, “Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow”.

All over the country Children’s Day is celebrated in an adorable fashion. Children shower with a lot of love gifts and pampering on this day. In schools, teachers put up programs and entertaining performances for their students. At the end of the event, chocolates are distributed among the children. which we know as a very famous event.
