2 Islamic religious teachers arrested for torturing a minor, Jihadi activities in non-government Madrasa.
The Whole Story
On November 17, Police arrested two Islamic religious educators from Cachar district of Assam for reputedly torturing a 14- year-old minor student and allegedly trying to tutor the students racism, carrying out Jihadi exertion in anon-government Madrasa.
The place was located at Sonai Circle of Cachar district from where police have taken follow-up action against two Islamic religious teachers, following a complaint lodged by the family members of the victim student against a non-government Madrasa of Swadhin Bazar, Cachar district.
The teachers who were taken into custody by the cops were identified as Abul Hussain Alias Abul and Md. Dilwar Hussain Mazumdar. During the house quests of the accused, number of incrementing material related to Al- Qaida, the Jihadi elements, bills, books, other documents has also been seized.
A case under varied sections of IPC has been registered at Sonai Police Station.Numal Mahatta, Superintendent of Police of Cachar district said that police have arrested two persons from the madrasa and produced them before the court and the court granted them ten days of police guardianship for now. After they were arrested the Madrasa was bulldozed.
On November 11, a person named Sahab Uddin Khan lodged a complaint at Sonai Police Station and stated that his son was enrolled at Swadhin Bazar Islamia Madrasa and Yateem Khana. In the complaint, the person stated that his son was tortured physically and mentally in the madrasa and jihadi activities are also going on in the madrasa.
The SP further said that during the primary investigation, they set up that, the teachers torture the students both mentally and physically by keeping them locked in a room. He also stated that they’re now probing on the Jihadi element matter and the interrogation is active.
On the other hand, it’s contended that the head school teacher of the Madrasa Abul Hussain called the students of the Madrasa to his place at night and used to give them lectures on Jihad. While speaking with the media, the student claimed, “the teachers used to tell us if we destroy Hindus, we’ll get special blessings from Allah.”
What’s Ahead Now?
Before this month, officers of the Assam education department and the private Madrasa boards had a high- status meeting with the Assam Police. This was after the police force had learnt that the Al- Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent( AQIS) modules in Assam tried to radicalise Muslims through Madrasas.
The police are taking eviction drives in the Goalpara and Morigaon district of Assam to keep the situation under control. Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, DGP of Assam said that they were looking into madrassas who were apparent in their behaviour. Talking about the high-status meeting, Assam DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta said,” To ensure that there’s no misuse of Madrasa, we met the Islamic scholars and we wanted their opinion. We gave them certain suggestions like opening a board and police verification of teachers.”
Statements
The DGP further stated that they have given the private Madrasa boards a proforma to follow and have also asked them to maintain a ledger book and give details on descriptions of the land. If anyone fails to comply, legal action will be taken against the board. “There’s no question of allowing jihadi propaganda in madrasas,” the DGP added.
He further said that before December 1, all private Madrasa boards in Assam will be needed to give full details on all institutions under their supervision. The information will be posted on the Assam government website and every single Madrasa educator would be subordinated to police verification.The Assam Police have inarguably said that any’ Jihadi action’ carried out under the guise of religious lectures in Madrasa will be considered as the responsibility of the Madrasa Board.
