On Wednesday, the Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3 saw a reduction in passenger wait times. According to the officials, there are now only 0 to 5 minutes of waiting time on T3 at Delhi Airport.
The airport also offered the option to monitor the wait times at entry gates.
On Wednesday, the official Twitter account for Delhi Airport tweeted this.Â
“Smooth passengers movement was observed at all terminal entry gates with an average waiting time of 0-5 minutes. Smart Travel Tip: For a smooth security check experience, travel with only one hand baggage as cabin luggage to the airport.”
Additionally, boards have been placed at the T3 Delhi Airport departure gates to inform passengers of the wait time and assist them in avoiding turmoil, delays, and overcrowding.
The airlines have begun requesting that passengers arrive at the airport at least three to four hours before their flights and only bring one handbag as part of corrective efforts.
Following Indigo, SpiceJet and Air India also advised their passengers to arrive early at the airport.
SpiceJet advises passengers to arrive early and bring no more than one handbag weighing up to 7 kg due to heavy traffic at airport terminals. The airline stated that check-in and boarding at Delhi Airport may likely take significantly longer than usual due to heavy foot traffic.
To ensure a smooth flow of passengers, the Ministry of Civil Aviation wrote to the airlines on Tuesday, requesting the deployment of adequate people at all check-in and baggage drop desks well in advance.
The Ministry further requested that they post real-time information on the wait times at the corresponding airport entry gates on their social media feeds.
Citing the letter sent by the Ministry on Tuesday, IANS reported, “It has come to the notice of the Ministry of Civil Aviation that the airline check-in counters at certain airports are found unmanned or inadequately manned during early morning hours leading to congestion at the airports, thereby causing inconvenience to the passengers.”
