A Cash van was killed when a person opened fire at him and fled after looting money from the van in Wazirabad. The dead has been identified by the police as Jai Singh, 55, they stated on Tuesday. About Rs 8 lakh has been stolen as loot, the van was at an ICICI bank ATM for cash deposits.
According to police, on Tuesday evening, an unidentified man shot dead the security guard of a cash van and fled with roughly 8 lakh kept in the vehicle outside a private bank’s ATM booth near Jagatpur flyover in north Delhi’s Wazirabad, where it had come to refill cash in the machine. Jai Singh (55), the victim, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Multiple teams have been formed and footage from CCTV cameras in the area are being scanned to identify the accused and ascertain the sequence of events, police said.
The murder and robbery occurred around 5 p.m. According to the police, a case has been filed at the Wazirabad police station. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi, the police control room received a report about 5 p.m.
about a shooting incident involving the looting of a cash truck in the Wazirabad area, and the police arrived. “Police team rushed to the spot and found the call to be true and further investigation is underway,” the official said. “As of now, we have learnt that ₹8lakh was looted. Since another employee of the cash van who has the logbook of the cash went to the hospital with the injured guard, we are still in the process of verifying the exact looted amount,” added Kalsi.
So far, no arrests have been made. Further investigations are being conducted.
