MIT Professor Retsef Levi recently took to Twitter demanding the immediate suspension of the Covid mRNA vaccine, saying it could cause harm and even death.
The Covid mRNA Vaccine
Messenger RNA or mRNA vaccines are a category of vaccines that are used to inject cells with instructions to produce a protein that is usually found on the SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid.
This in turn creates an immune response against the disease, without the person ever having been exposed to SARS-CoV-2.
Normally, vaccines help introduce inactive parts of a particular disease-causing organism, helping the human body create an immune response to the disease. This in turn allows the body to recognize the disease-causing organism if it enters the body and fights it off effectively.
The difference is that mRNA vaccines trigger the body’s cells to produce the disease-causing organism’s protein to develop immunity against it.
mRNA vaccines have been a topic of research for a very long time, but pharmaceutical companies have taken a keen interest in developing these types of vaccines to fend off Covid.
Some advantages of mRNA vaccines have over traditional vaccines are that they have a lower production cost, they create cellular as well as humoral immunity, and tend to have an ease of design and speed.
Some pharmaceutical companies that develops the mRNA vaccines for COVID-19 are Moderna, CureVac, Walvax, and Pfizer.
Professor Retsef Levi Presents His Case
Professor Retsef Levi is an expert in analytics, risk management, health systems, food, and agriculture systems, manufacturing, and supply chain management. He has many publications to his name and is currently also a distinguished professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management.
The professor took to Twitter to explain the possible harmful effects of the mRNA vaccine and demanded that all such vaccines be suspended immediately. He posted a video to the social media platform to explain his case and it has amassed over a million views.
In the video, He spoke of statistics and research that indicate the unsafe nature of vaccines. He said that the mRNA vaccines failed to fulfill any of the promises made by the pharmaceutical companies that produced them and that there is “mounting and indisputable evidence that they cause unprecedented levels of harm, including the death of young people and children.”
He also stated that mRNA vaccines are shown to cause myocarditis and sudden cardiac arrest. His recent study indicated an increase of 25% in cardiac arrest diagnosis among people aged 16 to 39.
Dr. Aseem Malhotra, who has been vocal against the administration of mRNA vaccines shared Prof Levi’s video on his Instagram.
Concerns Over mRNA Vaccines
Various studies have shown that mRNA vaccines carry a greater risk of complications than expected. However, the studies did not point to risks to the degree that Prof Levi did.
Sporadic incidents of side effects in mRNA-vaccinated individuals seem to have occurred, leaving the public questioning the efficacy and safety of these vaccines. Some of these incidents include the development of endometriosis in menstruating women, blood clots in the body, and myocarditis (inflammation of the heart).
These incidents are often revealed by people via their personal accounts. While the claims may be unfounded, many experts feel that health authorities are not taking these cases seriously and investigating them.
However, it is to be noted that the public is mainly concerned with the effect that mRNA vaccines have on the heart. Myocarditis is a common side effect in those who were vaccinated with Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, especially in young adult and adolescent males, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.
