Vivek Ramaswamy, a 37-year-old tech entrepreneur, is another Indian and American descent who has announced his intention to file for the 2024 presidential election. He is second to Nikki Haley to enter the Republican Party’s presidential bid.
In addition, Vivek Ramaswamy is also the second Indian-American to run for the presidential election as a Republican after Nikki Haley.
He announced his presidential candidature for 2024 during a live Fox News interview with Tucker Carlson (an American conservative political commentator). Ramaswamy, in his interview, claimed to put a stop to America’s reliance on China and re-instil a sense of merit in the hearts and minds of all Americans.
Mr Ramaswamy remarked that it is the foreign policy threat that they must cater to and not go on unnecessary combats. It will require sacrifice by “decoupling” from China. In the name of “modern life”, America is economically dependent on China, implying that they will have to cut off any form of a threat that dangles on them as reliance.
He also shed light upon the alleged spy balloon from China, stating that had it been a Russian spy balloon, “we’d have shot it down instantly and ratcheted up sanctions.”
Ramaswamy’s heritage can be traced back to India, as his parents migrated from Kerala to Ohio (the United States of America) and worked at a General Electric plant there.
In the live interview with Fox News, the 37-year-old expressed his concern about the current identity crisis that every American with an Indian bloodline is experiencing, saying that their prolonged glorification of vividness resulted in overlooking the reality of being the same Americans united by the shared principles that set the nation in motion 250 years ago.
Ramaswamy expressed his discontent by communicating that to learn the meaning of being American the Americans are clutching onto new secular religions like “Wokeism” and “Climatism” and others to satisfy the unfathomable need for clarity.
He further stated that “Wokeism” had become a national threat, and he filed his candidature intending to restore those that set the nation in motion 250 years ago principles in America. In his opinion, it is imperative to reawaken, merit in the minds and hearts of all Americans.
Ramaswamy, an Indian descent born in America, conforming to his bio, established Roivant Sciences in 2014 and, in the following years, that is, 2015 and 2016, he oversaw the most extensive Biotech IPOs, which finally led to the successful completion of clinical trials in several illness areas, which ultimately resulted in the approval of medications by the FDA.
The 37-year-old has also initiated a firm called Strive Asset Management in 2022 with an aim to prioritise excellence over politics. He launched the firm to ensure a place and recognition of the opinions of American citizens in shaping the economy, which the companies influence.
Ramaswamy is also an author. He penned books like “Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam” and “Nation of Victims: Identity Politics, the Death of Merit, and the Path Back to Excellence” and published them in August 2021 and in September 2022, respectively.
In a patriotic enunciation, Ramaswamy acknowledged the dream that gave victory to the American Revolution, reunified America after the Civil War, and made America victorious in both the World Wars and the Cold War.
Nikki Haley, a two-term governor of South Carolina and a former ambassador of the United States to the United Nations, also submitted her candidature for the presidential bid earlier this month. It appears that Haley previously worked for Donald Trump, now a former President of the United States, and she is preparing to compete against him.
