On Tuesday, the 94th academy awards’ nominations were announced. The announcement of the nominations was made by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences over a live stream. The announcements of the same were hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, an American actress, singer, television host, producer, and director, and Leslie Jordan, who is an American actor, writer, and singer, across all the 23 categories.
With a whopping 12 nominations, ‘The Power of the Dog’ leads this year’s Oscars. Amidst such desperate times of medical crisis, the Oscars are here to lift people’s spirits.
Amid this, there is good news for the nation. India made it onto the nominees’ list for the ‘Best Documentary Feature category. The documentary ‘Writing with Fire’ by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh, based in the country’s National Capital, has been nominated for the aforementioned category. That is not all. This documentary has been screened at multiple film festivals and has already won 28 awards.
At the renowned Sundance Film Festival, held in the United States in 2021, ‘Writing with Fire’ won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award: Impact for Change and the World Cinema Documentary Competition Audience Award. Apart from this, the documentary is a recipient of 6 audience awards and 11 Best Documentary awards, among those 28 awards.
This Indian Feature has caught the film industry’s eye across the globe and is continuing to make the country proud.
