MET Gala 2024, one of the world’s biggest fashion event was held on May 1, on Monday. Every year, the event is attended by some of our favourite stars and what makes the most excited about it, is the unique fashion we witness. Over the years, the fans have witnessed some of the most out-of-box fashion ideas at the red carpet. This year, stars including Doja Cat, Cardi B, Jared Leto and more paid homage to the late Karl Lagerfield (and his pet cat, Choupette). The Met Gala guests have every year embraced outrageous themes, like 2019’s Camp: Notes on Fashion. This year, the theme was, ‘In honour of Karl’.
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna arrived in style at the red carpet. While the rapper had worn Gucci, the pregnant diva donned a white gown with Chanel inspired 30 camellia composed of 500 petals. Chanel was the signature theme, and Rihanna proved that her reign at the Met gala won’t just end soon.
Olivia Wilde and Margaret Zhang, both showed up in the Chloe ss83 Violin Dress, which was later reissued an worn by Chloe Sevigny in 2013. While the former stunned in white, the latter looked glamorous in black.
Amanda Seyfriend put on quite a show in her freakum dress which took us back to Studio 54.
Kristen Stewart showed in a white cropped jacket paired with the high-waisted trousers. She completed her look with baby black tie. She turned up at the red carpet with attitude of “this is what you came for” as her look resembled to Karl.
Another personalities who dressed up as the legend himself were Ke Huy Quan and Simu Liu.
Dua Lipa served one of the best looks at the red carpet of Met Gala. The singer wore Claudia Schiffer’s gown, which took her even close to the theme. However, we just like, if she could have kept the hat on. Anyway, Dua ate that and left no crumbs.
While Rachel Brosnahan wore Sergio Hudson. She dared to wear a transparent outfit covered with a long floor sweeping overcoat, which was later dropped by her.
Well, hello! Noami Campbell and Penelope Cruz showed up at the red carpet looking extremely beautiful. While the former wore Chanel spring 10′ corture, the latter was seen in Chanel spring ’88. Indeed, one of the best looks at the Met Gala 2024.
There were also some weird look at the red carpet, as we do not like to call anyone’s fashion as ‘worst’.
Lil Nas X showed up and said I will not be covered at all, except for silver crystals.
Jared Leto and Doja Cat paid tribute to Choupette, cat of Karl Lagerfield. Were they on the theme? Definitely, yes. Maybe, a bit too much. Doja also stayed in her character as she was interviewed by a journalist at the red carpet, but all her answers were ‘meow’.
Another guest who took the theme, a bit too seriously was Jeremy Pope. He arrived at the red carpet with 30-foot custom Balmain cape featuring a portray of Karl Lagerfield.
Some of the notable looks from the event includes, Anna Hathway in a Tweed gown covered with cutouts, and Kim Kardashian who covered her curves with thousands of pearls.
