The Israeli forces shot down two Palestinian men who were suspected of a shootout earlier this week in an Israeli establishment that injured an Israeli man, whereas, two other suspected Palestinians were arrested in Tulkarem (a city in the West Bank).
The IDF conducted a destructive raid at the Nur-Shams refugee camp in the West Bank in search of the gunmen where the two Palestinian men were shot dead by the Israeli military forces, said the Palestinian officials and the military.
The IDF and police said that soldiers and undercover Police officers entered the camp situated near Tulkarem city to arrest people who were suspected of carrying out the attack earlier this week.
The two Palestinian men identified as Hamza Jamil Kharyoush and Samer Salah al-Shafei were shot dead when they tried to flee from the camp, said the Police in a statement. The police also published a video showing the two men being shot while trying to escape from the camp.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said that one of the suspects was shot in the neck, chest and abdomen while the other was shot in the chest, abdomen and left leg while trying to escape from the scene, standing on a tin roof.
Furthermore, two Palestinians namely Muhammad Abd al-Fattah and Ibrahim Ahmed were also detained and were suspected of the shootout. The two were handed over to the Shin Bet security agency for further interrogation.
Later, the police confirmed that no Israeli soldier was injured during the raid and also published images of rifles, magazines and vests obtained from the bodies of the two Palestinian men.
Palestinian retaliation towards Israeli forces
A shootout was carried out by a few Palestinian men on Tuesday near Avnei Hefetz in the northern West Bank. One of the attackers fired at vehicles leaving one 39-year-old Israeli man slightly injured by the shattered glass of the windows.
This attack by Palestinian men came in retaliation when the Israeli forces killed 3 Palestinians who were suspected of killing 3 Israeli’s namely, Lucy Dee, Maia and Rina in an attack last month near the Jordan Valley.
Tensions between Israel and Palestine have been continuously increasing for the past year due to the illegal occupation by the Israeli government over the Palestinian territory. The tension led to late-night raids by Israeli forces at Palestinian camps and also at Al-Aqsa mosque (A Holy place for Muslims) using rubber pellets, shells and use of force over women and children.
As per various media sources, a total of 104 Palestinians have been killed so far since the beginning of 2024 by the Israeli forces in the area of West Bank and East Jerusalem most of them were killed during raids by IDF while some of them were killed under circumstances which are under investigation.
The Israeli officials said that the raids conducted to the villages, towns and cities resided by the Palestinians were to detain the militants who are suspected of supplying weapons and conducting attacks on Israel. As per various media sources, over 250 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the raids were started.

The IDF said, most of the people killed during the raids were militants whereas the reports suggest that children, youth throwing stones and people who were not involved in any unlawful activity were amongst the killed people.
