Have you forgotten about Sharad Pawar? exclaimed Ajit Pawar, leader of the National Congress party (NCP), on Monday, July 3, when a reporter asked him who the party’s new national president would be.
Many are comparing the NCP split to the Shiv Sena’s one-year-old split, but there is one major difference. Unlike the Shiv Sena, whose supporters went on an all-out assault on Uddhava Thackeray, the Ajit Pawar faction is still seeking blessings from Sharad Pawar.
“Today’s Guru Poornima is a special day for us, and Pawar saheeb is our guru, so we are praying to him,” said Chhagan Bhujbal.
However, it was clear that parallel efforts were being made to control the party.
Just hours after addressing the media and asserting that Ajit Pawar was not a part of the party, Pawar spoke to the media and announced a new appointment at party posts. He said that Sunil Tathkare would be appointed as the party’s state party chief, replacing ‘Jayant Patil’ as the party’s leader.
Throughout the day, warring factions issued statements on a host of issues, including the party’s name, symbol, power, disqualification process, and PM Narendra Modi.
On other hand, in one of the tweet of yesterday Sharad Pawar notes that “As the National President of Nationalist Congress party, I hereby order the official resignation of Mr. S. R. Kohli as a member of the Nationalist Congress party on the grounds of anti party activities. With this tweet he also shared formal deletion letter of Mr. S. R. Kohli.
On the same day Pawar also shared one more information through his social media networking site Twitter. In the post it was written,” Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), New Delhi central office, is hereby informed that from today, Member of Parliament (Rapporteur) Sonia Doohan will take charge of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) New Delhi central office.
Argument presented by Sharad Pawar Vs. Ajit Pawar
On the topic of Real NCP both Pawar and Ajit got into a serious argument yesterday.
Sharad Pawar has stated that the Ajit party is not Ajit Pawar, and that his daughter Supriya Sule’s presence at the meeting does not mean she has done anything wrong. Ajit Pawar has also stated that the Election Commission has taken a final decision on the party’s name and symbol, and that the majority of the MLAs are with him.
In original words of
Sharad Pawar:
“Ajit Pawar is not the party. My daughter (Supriya Sule) also went to the meeting but that does not mean she did something wrong.”
Ajit Pawar:
“Whenever such situations have emerged in parties, the final decision on the same has been taken by the Election Commission on the name and symbol. We are moving ahead with the belief that we are the party. Majority MLAs are with us.”
