Wembanyama was on his way to a restaurant when he was spotted by fans — including Spears, who is in Las Vegas ahead of Wembanyama’s debut in the NBA Summertime League versus Charlotte on Friday.
Britney Spears claimed she was assaulted in the face after an altercation with NBA top draught choice Victor Wembanyama’s bodyguard, and Las Vegas police stated they had looked into the claim.
Wembanyama was on his way to a diner when he was recognised by fans — including Spears. Wembanyama is in Las Vegas for playing his initial match in the National Basketball Association’s Summer League opposing Charlotte on Friday.
According to media sources, Wembanyama’s security pulled Spears away; the performer’s spouse Sam Asghari described the security as “violent” and “out of control.”
After the game, Wembanyama revealed to the media that he had learned about Spears’ involvement only a few hours before. The Frenchman stated, “There was one individual calling me, but we negotiated with security to avoid being interrupted since it’s going to form a mob.
“Since I had been walking straight, I hadn’t been mindful of what had happened, but that person clutched me from behind and called me “sir sir.” I don’t know how forcefully security pushed the woman away, but I didn’t look, so I kept going and had an incredible meal.
Spears disputed Wembanyama’s statement and said she had just intended to welcome the player.
“As I made my getaway to dinner, I caught sight of an athlete in my the property’s hallway.” Later, when I visited a different hotel’s restaurant, I bumped across him once more. I made the choice to go up to him and wish him luck in the future,” she posted via Instagram.
“To gain his attention, I lightly tap him on the shoulder. I am conscious of the player’s claim that ‘I held him from behind’, but all I did was tap him onto his shoulder,” she stated.
Then, in front of a throng, his security guards hurt me in my face without glancing around. taking my spectacles off my face and almost knocking me over.” The event was looked into by the Las Vegas Sheriff Department, but no action was taken.
According to a statement from the police, “On the fifth of July 2024, at about 11 p.m., LVMPD police arrived to a location in the 3700 area of Las Vegas Boulevard concerning a battery investigation.”
“A police complaint has been filed on the incident, but absolutely nobody has been arrested or issued a citation. At this time, no other information will be provided.
On social media, Asghari claimed that Britney had been “assaulted.”
He added, “The achievement of an outstanding young man on the upward trajectory @wemby should not be diminished by the violent behaviour of an out of hand security guard.”
“I cannot envision a situation where a female fan who is unarmed and merely expressing excitement or admiration for an athlete would lead to a physical attack, much less being punched in her face for patting another on the shoulder.”
