Traveling Made Effortless by Smart-Cards
Rajasthan, owing to its spectacular richness in culture, traditions, heritage, history, art, and architecture time and again asserts its hegemony over other Indian states by attracting crores of national and international tourists each year.
The government of Rajasthan has decided to ease the sightseeing affair for tourists by issuing a ‘smart card’ for voyageurs.
A single card will enable people to enter multiple tourist spots and conveyance amenities. The Smart Cards will save the tourers the labor to stand in line and buy tickets separately at each monument. Apart from that, the card will also grant entry into public transportation.
Still, in the working stage, this advanced technology will expedite the hurdles faced today by voyageurs. Travelers can now look forward to bidding adieu to the rush and chaos of standing in line for a ticket.Â
Rush in Rajasthan Streamlined
Proudly wearing the sash of India’s largest state, The Land of Rajas and Maharajas, overflows with palaces, forts, museums, and parks and has a footfall of more than 1000 lakh tourists each year. With the introduction of the smart cards, sightseers can be stress-free and relaxed while roaming the Desert State.Â
Although included at the confluence of The Tourism Department and the Transport Department of the State, the project will commence by developing a portal by the Department of Information Technology.Â
This invention was designed to streamline the entire touring process, manage the swarm of crowds at sightseeing spots constructively, and make the entire touring experience for the excursionists smoother and faster. Thus, saving time, resources, and the unnecessary strain of standing in a queue.Â
Smart Cards Reinvent the Travel Industry
An Official from the Tourism Division reveals that this card will be linked to a portal and explorers will now have more convenience and comfort while gallivanting. The card will also be integrated under the services of the roadways.Â
As per reports from the Department of Tourism of Rajasthan, the initial phase of the venture will only provide access to selected monuments. Eventually, as its scope and efficacy widen, more places of interest and more transportation facilities will be included within the smart card’s compass.
Also, the card, being rechargeable, will have to be loaded up from time to time as per the requirements.Â
Playing it safe, the transport authorities have decided to limit the ambit of the card to only exclusive luxury buses that operate at an intra-state level. Depending upon the system’s efficiency and the reaction of the public, further expansion in the card’s extent is a possibility. If the response is positive, private museums and other illustrious monuments can also find their names on the list.
The Future Holds More…
The future plans of the system have also been delineated. The officials plan to coalesce the services of RTDC (Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation) within the scope of the smart card. This will also cover the realms of accommodation and taxi facilities if the scheme turns out to be a success in the compact model.
It’s no shocker that ticket purchase is a long-drawn process for people on both sides of the ticketing booth. A tourist guide for Udaipur, Gajendra Singh, attests that apart from manifesting a positive and progressive picture of the state’s tourism industry, the card will also make traveling effortless, especially during peak seasons when the state is bustling with bazillion vacationers wandering the beautiful attractions the state has to offer.
