On July 20, A tragic car accident took place in Ahmedabad’s Iscon flyover. 9 people were killed including 2 police officers, 1 home guard and 6 men. Members of the victim’s families are so angry and demanding justice as they cope with this incident. In response, the authorities have arrested the car driver Tathya Patel and his father Pragnesh Patel.
What Happened?
On July 20, a previous accident happened between a Thar car and a dumper on the Iscon flyover. People from nearby came there unaware of the danger to offer help. While they were gathered a Jaguar car at the speed of 150km/ph came and crushed all of them. Tathya Patel son of a wealthy builder Pragyesh Patel was driving the car. He was coming back from a cafe with his friends Aaryan, Shaan, Shreya, Dhwani and Malvika. He was driving his Jaguar at 150 km/ph speed and even before he realised that there was a crowd, he killed all of them.
According to a report from news agency PTI, the victims were thrown approximately 25 to 30 feet away from the accident site. The road was stained red with spilt blood, and the impact was so severe that the front of the car and its windscreen suffered complete damage.
After this incident happened all of his friends ran away leaving Tathya alone. However, the people who witnessed this accident did not let Tathya run away. They all started beating him. As soon as his father got the news he arrived at the scene of the crime. He somehow managed to rescue his son from the crowd and took him immediately to the hospital, leaving all the victims on a dead bed.

victims were all over Gujarat and came to Ahmedabad for one and another reason. Here are a few of them. Krunal Kodiya who just started a job, Akshar Chavda who came to fill out the admission form for MBA, Ronak Vihalpura son of a farmer and a recent graduate of computer engineering who was looking for a job and Nrav who was going to the garage to repair a car were all killed.

In the past 10 years, his father has been accused of 1 gang rape, 4 land-related cases, 2 cases related to alcohol and 3 other cases. He also never fails to show off his luxurious lifestyle on Instagram where he has more than 5000 followers.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conveyed his sorrow regarding the incident and declared compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured. By focusing on improved road infrastructure, stricter law enforcement, heightened public awareness, and confronting issues of entitlement, India can move closer to safer roads and a more responsible driving culture.
