Amid Russia’s- Ukraine crisis, top sources in the civil aviation ministry said plans could be made to evacuate around 16,000 Indians through Romania, Slovakia, Poland, or Hungary.
“In the absence of air bubble arrangements with these countries, charter flights may be put in place, based on the demand of the Ministry of External Affairs. For this, MEF will have to take necessary approvals for the landing of flights with the embassies of those countries.” An official said.
We are working on this to sensitize the MEF- Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said in a press conference on Thursday that the MEF has decided to facilitate the evacuations of Indian students and nationals stranded in Ukraine, speaking the Russian language. Officials have been sent to Kyiv and neighbouring countries.
Neighbouring countries have been asked to send their officers to the border areas to facilitate the entry of Indian nationals. We have asked some officials to go to the border areas to set up temporary facilitation centers.
Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Hungry said in a tweet that it is working to strengthen the roots of evacuation from Romania and Hungary. The checkpoints have been made Chop-Zahany, the Hungarian border near Uzhhorod, and Porubne-Siret near Chernivtsi, the Romanian border.
