“This is our land, our country, our children. And we will defend all of that,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a short video. He sought to dismiss rumors that he had called upon the army to lay down arms.
The Guardian, quoting reported the city’s mayor, Zelenskyy’s message, follows reports of overnight shelling and fighting in Kyiv in which 35 people, including two children, were injured.

The Russia-Ukraine crisis deepened as Russian missiles pounded Kyiv after Russia’s Vladimir Putin declared war this week. Amid the chaos, Russia vetoed a UN resolution deploring “aggression” in Ukraine even as UN chief Antonio Guterres said Russian soldiers “need to return to their barracks.”
Indians in Ukraine are being brought back
An Air India evacuation flight comprising Indians in Ukraine has taken off from Romania and will arrive in Mumbai at 4 pm.
Indians stranded in Ukraine. Indians in Ukraine are being brought back through Hungary, Budapest, and Romania, and MEA officials are coordinating operations. On Saturday, Air India will operate more flights to Bucharest and Hungarian capital Budapest to evacuate.
