Madhuri Dixit’s line: ‘Apply some ice on burnt areas’ from The Fame Game roasted privileged ‘young stars’ is a hit.Â
Madhuri Dixit stars in Netflix‘s eight-part series The Fame Game, directed by Sri Rao. Dixit plays Bollywood star Anamika Anand, who goes missing after an awards show. The pilot episodes move back and forth in time, revealing details about her past and simultaneously unravelling the investigation surrounding her disappearance. Rajshri Deshpande plays a cop named Shobha, who detests the showbiz world and solves the high-profile case.Â
During her OTT debut, Madhuri shared while working on a film that the whole story is to be revealed in two or three hours, but in a series, eight hours of content to create gives time to work on backstories of each character. Some other pivotal characters are Anamika’s overbearing mother (Suhasini Mulay), her husband Nikhil (Sanjay Kapoor), her co-star Manisha Khanna (Manav Kaul) and her teenage children Avi (Lakshvir Saran) and Amara (Muskkaan Jafari). They become real and relatable. People want to know what happens in their life, and that’s the fun of OTT platforms and series. We can make a world of its own and give people beautiful stories. Â
The Fame Game audience reacted to a scene about ‘young stars.’Â Â
The scene featured Madhuri Dixit and Pooja Bhamrrah.Â
In the Netflix series “The Fame Game”, fans have reacted to a scene in which Madhuri Dixit, named actor Anamika Anand, was mocking a young actor asking for her blessings. There, she was hinting at their age difference. Madhuri is greeted at an event by Jaslyn, played by Pooja Bhamrrah, who heaped praises on her. Then, she took Madhuri’s hand and kept it on her head. She asked her to bless her amid gasps from the paparazzi stationed outside. She told me she is a massive fan of Anamika and grew up watching her movies.
At first, Madhuri Dixit looked shocked but laughed and said she didn’t need her blessings. The young stars these days have PR, stylists, trainers. They have everything. They don’t even need talent, let alone her blessings, which has led to Pooja’s character Jaslyn giving an embarrassed smile.Â
Hindustan Times review Â
The Hindustan Times review said that through eight 45-minute-long episodes, we are getting the tropes we already associate with celebrity life. The tropes like stalkers, affairs, the works, domestic problems, financial issues, troubled childhood. But all of these tropes are wrapped up in a highly excellent screenplay by Sri Rao and co-writers Amita Vyas, Shreya Bhattacharya, Nisha Mehta and Akshat Ghildial. Directors Karishma Kohli and Bejoy Nambiar extract top-notch performances from their superstar lead and a bunch of attractive actors surrounding her.”Â
This series is directed by filmmakers Karishma Kohli and Bejoy Nambiar, with Hindi dialogues penned by Akshat Ghildial, Amita Vyas, and Shreya Bhattacharya. Currently streaming on Netflix, the series also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Manav Kaul, Lakshvir Saran, Suhasini Mulay, and Muskkaan Jafari.Â
