Congress MLA of Haryana Mamman Khan has been apprehended by the police for the recent Nuh violence, which has reportedly claimed the death of six people and left 88 injured.Â

The arrest of the MLA was corroborated by additional director general of police Mamta Singh according to the Mint report.Â
Senior MLA of Congress Aftab Khan also gave the confirmation of the arrest.
As per the mint report, the Deputy leader of the Congress legislature party of Haryana revealed that Haryana has given us details with regard to his arrest.Â
How Did the Police Make the Arrest?Â
As per the Police officials familiar with the matter, revealed to Hindustan Times, that the arrest of the MLAÂ was made by the special investigation team (SIT) on Thursday.Â
The deputy superintendent of police Satish Kumar of Ferozepur Jhirka Nuh district, made confirmation of the arrest to Hindustan Times.Â
And said yes, he was arrested for his supposed role in the communal violence that had rocked the Nuh district on 31st July 2024.Â
But he did not reveal the location of his arrest citing the matter of security. But he said he’s currently under questioning.
The Special investigation team led by Satish Kumar, has frequently called for his presence two times.
However, the MLA did not appear for the investigating team on both the dates of 31st August and 10th September respectively.
The arrest of Mamman Khan was made within a few hours in the light of a relief petition for which an urgent hearing was initiated by the High Court of Haryana & Punjab.Â
Why did MLA Appeal to the court

On Thursday, Congress MLA Mamman Khan made an appeal to the high court of Haryana & Punjab against his arrest saying that the SIT shouldn’t initiate his arrest as he has been falsely accused in this case.
But the MLA, according to the Bar & Bench report, also demanded protection against the use of force.
His lawyer R.S Cheema also made a request to the court that a liberty should be granted for seeking suitable remedy for protecting his client’s liberty.
This request was granted by the High Court.Â
The MLA further said the SIT should consist of officers who are not below the Inspector General of police rank at the time of his arrest.
The State government’s defense

The state government of Haryana submitted that the name of the congress MLA was mentioned in the registered FIR at Nagina police on 1st August 2024.
The charges in the FIR include section 153-A (promotion of religious enmity between the groups) and section 436 (mischief with fire or substance of explosion with the intention to destroy the houses) under the Indian Penal Code.Â
Representing the government Deepak Sabrawal further said that he was arrested according to the statement of the co-accused named Taufiq followed by. His call details and the statement were given by the security personnel.Â
The exact wording of the lawyer representing the Haryana government was:
That a thorough investigation was conducted and the details of the calls were also examined in a detailed manner. It was revealed that the calls were exchanged on the date of 29th & 31st July respectively.Â
According to the tower location, statements of his security officers showed that the MLA was present within a distance of 1.5 km from the place of violence on 29th July & 30th July. Unlike what he says, he was near the place.
The state government further said that both on his Facebook and WhatsApp, he posted that there is no need to worry as due to them, he is there in the Vidhan Sabha and will defend them in Mewat also.
The Government further claimed that one accused in the FIR mentioned in his posts, Engineer MLA Mamman Khan, completed the mission.
Current Situation
As per ANI, security was increased in the outer area of Nuh District Court where Mamman Khan will appear for the legal proceedings today.Â
The case is further scheduled for hearing on 19th October which is presided by Justice Vikas Bahl.
