CRPF jawan Mukhtaar Ahmed was martyred on the evening of 12th March 2022. The incident occurred in yet another terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. It was observed in Choti Pora area of the Shopian region. The attack is said to be the fourth attack in the past three days. The militant involved was arrested on 13th March 2022 by Kashmiri police.

The attack of March 12th was commanded by Abid Ramzaan Sheikh, the commander of Lakshar-e-Taiba. A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawaan, Mukhtaar Ahmed, was shot by the militant. Mukhtaar was off duty and at home when the attack took place. He was declared dead from injuries on arrival at the hospital.
The militant involved was arrested along with his overground worker. The detainment was executed after the pistol used in the attack was recovered from the suspect. “My heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased CRPF Jawaan Mukhtar Ahmed,” said Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He also expressed his worry over the rise in cases of militant attacks in the state.
Three other attacks were observed in the state previously. A Sarpanch was shot dead in the Khonmoh area on Wednesday. Furthermore, an IED attack in Udhampur, as well as a grenade attack on Sunday, were also witnessed.
Both the attacks saw severe damages to civilian lives and property. Several militants had also been shot dead post the attacks. Militants from Lakshar-e-Taiba in the Ganderbal region and Suhail Gulzaar in Hardware, Northern Kashmir were encountered by the police.
