Abhishek Chatterjee, a well-known Bengali actor, died on March 24 in Kolkata. He died at the age of 58, leaving his wife and daughter behind. He had previously worked on television series and films. According to family members mentioned by news agency PTI, Mr. Chatterjee experienced a major cardiac arrest.
The 58-year-old had complained of stomach discomfort on Wednesday while filming a non-fiction show, and was afterwards treated with saline at his Prince Anwar Shah Road home, according to family members. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), heart attack and stroke accounted for 85 percent of the 17.9 million deaths that occurred in 2019 owing to various heart-related disorders.
According to the WHO research, cardiac illnesses cause 38 percent of all premature deaths worldwide. Cardiovascular disease, according to experts, can be avoided if it is recognized early and people incorporate healthy lifestyle activities into their daily lives.
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mentioned in her tweet that, she is sad to know of the untimely demise of our young actor Abhishek Chatterjee. She also added, “Abhishek was talented and versatile in his performances, and we shall miss him. It is a great loss for TV serials and our film industry. My condolences to his family and friends”.
Firhad Hakim, the mayor of Kolkata, said in his tweet that, he is “Deeply pained by the un-timely demise of talented & young actor of our Bengal film industry #AbhishekChatterjee”. With that, he added, “A strong personality both on screen & off it, he will be missed us and his countless admirers and followers. My deepest condolences. May his soul Rest in Peace”.
Abhishek Chatterjee was born in 30th April, 1964. In the early 1990s and late 1980s, Abhishek Chatterjee was a significant figure in the Bengali cinema industry. Beginning his cinematic career in 1986 with Tarun Majumdar’s Path Bhola, Abhishek went on to star in other successful Bengali films.
Since his debut in 1986 with the film ‘Pathbola’, Mr. Chatterjee had been a stalwart in the Bengali cinema industry. He worked alongside seasoned actors like Utpal Dutt, Sandhya Roy, and Prosenjit Chatterjee during the course of his 35-year career. Mr. Chatterjee’s films include Rituparno Ghosh’s Dahan and Bariwali and Tarun Majumder’s Alo.
Rituparna Sengupta, Mr. Chatterjee’s co-star in ‘Sujansakhi’, Sankha Sidurer Dibbi, Lathi, and other films, said he had created a new standard in commercial cinema and will always be remembered by moviegoers. Sangharsho, Lathi, and Bhai Amar Bhai are some of his commercial triumphs.
Abhishek made his comeback to the small screen in these recent years, playing a part in a blockbuster series, Kharkuto. He was also recently seen filming ‘Ismart Jodi’, a reality show hosted by Jeet on Star Jalsha.
