The high court orders CBI to investigate into Bengal violence case where 8 people were burnt alive after turn down the request by Mamta Banerjee government to not to hand over too CBI.
The central bureau of investigation has taken control over the case of Bengal where 8 people were burnt alive in west Bengal’s Birchum.
The Calcutta high court has transferred the case to CBI after denying a request by Mamta Banerjee to not hand over the investigation to central agency.
Mamta Banerjee said in the press conference something big is hidden behind the Bengal violence case for which she wants the investigation in his own hand that’s why she has requested to the government to not hand over the case to central agency.
The chief minister said that the suspect’s may be harassed down if they do not surrender. Fighting with as serious political issue over the savage killing accused by opposition party of condoning political violence, the Chief minister also said that ‘something big’ was behind the accident.
Eight people – all women and children – were beaten and burnt alive by a mob on Tuesday.
A Special Investigation Team formed by the Bengal government will now hand over the case to the CBI. A division bench of the Calcutta High Court comprising Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Justice R Bharadwaj told the CBI to file a progress report by April 7.
A team of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory are at the crime scene, collecting samples and evidence.
On the other hand, after the incident Bhartiya Janta party said demand for imposition of president rule in West Bengal.
Prime minister Narendra Modi said ‘the killing in Birbhum’s is disastrous and the culprit should not be forgiven at any cost.
He hoped the state government would take all the necessary steps to punish the culprits as soon as possible.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comment proves that he, too, believes that it is the state government that should be conducting a probe into the matter. The demand for imposition of President’s Rule by the BJP doesn’t stand anymore,” Trinamool state spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said.
Mr Ghosh, however, wondered why the PM “chose to maintain silence on similar incidents” in Uttar Pradesh “What happened in Birbhum is condemnable. No one can support such violence. The PM, too, has condemned it. But we wonder why he maintains silence when carnages and mass murders take place in the BJP-ruled states. Has he ever condemned such incidents in Hathras and Unnao in Uttar Pradesh? The answer is no,” The Trinamool leader said at a press meet in Kolkata.
The Chief Minister has indicated she is wary of her rivals politicising the incident. Ms Banerjee and the BJP-led centre has long been fighting on several fronts and the latest incident may just open up another front.
