Billie Eilish and her brother Phineas O’Connell were nominated for their title track from the James Bond film No Time to Die.
Earlier this week, she shared how nervous she was to attend the Oscars. She also shared a glimpse of what went behind the scenes in the journey of producing the song. She shared that neither of them had any hesitations when they were asked to produce the song for a franchise this big.
On Oscar night, the fairy-tale came true when the title track for the film No Time To Die won the Best Original Song Oscar.
Both Billie Eilish and her brother Phineas O’Connell were all smiles when the award was announced. The songwriting duo became the only siblings to win under this category since 1964 when Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman won it for their song “Chim Chim Cher-ee” used in Mary Poppins.
Not just this, Billie Eilish herself broke some records by becoming the youngest to win three awards for the same song, as she already took home Grammy and Golden Globe for it. She also became the second youngest to win an Oscar under this category.
Her Reaction Towards Oscar
Eilish shared her experience and feeling about winning an Oscar with the press backstage.
“I feel like I’m just coming into being aware of what is good and around me. When you’re that young, it’s hard to understand how big of a deal things are around you, how important things are.”
were her words when she was asked to share about how happy she was feeling holding that Oscar.
Eilish would have become the youngest winner ever in this category if COVID hadn’t caused such a menace to the entertainment world i.e. if No Time To Die had come out on schedule in 2020. Nevertheless, winning an Oscar is an unparalleled achievement in itself.
Eilish is one of the most inspirational singer-songwriters of this generation. She continues to produce beautiful music and almost every single one that she records goes straight to the top of the Billboard charts.
Eilish’s career so far has been very bright and her future ahead looks even brighter. Throughout all of her accomplishments, the young singer has managed to stay humble and thankful.
