The Uttar Pradesh health and family welfare department data reveals that there has been a rise in the number of condom users in the state over the past few years.
Background
Historically Uttar Pradesh had very high levels of fertility rates .It is the most populous state in the country. The major reasons behind the historical high fertility rate were child marriage, low female schooling and lack of family planning.
The situation now( Number increased)
The data revealed by the health and family welfare department shows that the number of condom users have significantly increased and hence a substantial drop in fertility.
Some of the factors which lead to the same were improvements in healthcare, female education and economic development. People now have turned serious towards family planning and contraceptive methods .
The data(Number)
In 2017-2018 there were 3.88 crore condom users. IN 2021-22 the number increased to 5.20 crore. Thus the data shows a rise of 25.5% condom users .
Conclusion
People have become more responsible towards family planning. Government led campaigns to spread awareness helped. Also people have tackled condom hesitancy.
